Nice shot with good colors. I half way expected to hear it's song when I opened the post. That lens is good at the long end. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Mike! I could take the camcorder to the Wetlands; Wagtails are pretty noisy, so I'm sure one would oblige. Some Fantails were making a lot of noise yesterday and I discovered that they were divebombing a raptor.

This photo was almost at minimum focus. He happily sat on the branch and sang. But yeah, I'm impressed with the DFA 150-450 at any focal length and aperture, at least on APSC!

Thanks Jer! Fortunately this guy decided to sit and sing while I was almost at minimum focal distance.

Rob, nice head shot! Excellent details! I had a listen to wagtails on you tube.. nice songs.. reminds me of our catbirds.

I also have been amazed by the DFA 150-450 at any focal length.. its pretty darn sharp!

The Wagtails seem to be making a big comeback and we see a lot in our area now.

Thank you! I don't think I've heard a catbird outside Australia and I expect that ours are very different. We have two Catbird species which are related to Bowerbirds. Some think they sound like cats, but they sound like something being strangled to me. The Wagtail has a pretty call, until some male with too much testosterone insists on calling all night.

That's great! Especially because I think you still need a lot of rain over there? The Wagtails in Canberra have been breeding a lot in the last two years - so have all the birds for that matter!

Thanks Todd! Lucky for me that they're friendly birds (although they only like us for the flies we attract).

Thanks to that wagtail bird for allowing such a detailed shot, and thanks to you for catching him!
Once again, I want to say that image shows the "character" of the bird--not just a picture.
Angky.

Thank you! Wagtails are certainly characters. They flutter around, and have a lively song to match!
