Evening Rose
Lens: HD Pentax DA 16-85mm Camera: K10D Photo Location: My garden fence ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/180s Aperture: F9.5

The only rose bloom around at this time of year!
The bloom is facing east, with the residual sky light illuminating from the back of the bloom.
Had enough light to get backlit translucence through the petals.
No post processing done on this. Straight out of the camera's jpg.
Slightly under-exposed to give the sense of evening, although it was right at dusk.

I guess I was impressed with what RichardL was doing with his version of this lens, so I just wanted to join him.
That lens really does nice work.
Thanks to Richard for his inspiration!
Angky.

The lens does produce. I like the subdued lighting. The illumination is just enough to bring out the colors and details of the rose. Nice work, whatever the inspiration.

Terrific shot Angky. I really like shooting flowers in low light like this. The DA16-85 is a very good, versatile lens and handles garden images like this very well.

Thank you, Mike!
This was inspired by the work Richard did with this lens, but your assessment inspires me further to explore with it.
This lens is a fairly slow but sharp lens, so it might be fun to try it in some other situations.

Thank you, Todd.
I had almost wondered why I ever got this lens since I (mistakenly) got it for the K1.
Hadn't really given it much serious thought for the K10D--just plugged it onto the camera as a sort of kit lens.
But it does its job quite well.
This low-light flower photography might be some fun to experiment with.
Appreciate your encouragement.
Angky.

Thank you, EM.
That subdued color is either a bane or a blessing--not yet sure which.
I'll be shooting more of these to see what I think of it.
Angky.
