Some shots from a digital Newbee
Posted By: Thumper473, 12-10-2008, 12:51 PM

I have owned a K1000 film for a few decades but I am only about 2 years into the digital photography. Here are a few shots:

checking my new Sigma DG 70-300mm for clarity:

Gemini Macro f/6.7, iso equiv 200, exposure bias -1.00, and a little help form my friends at ACDSEE:

Fall Colors in Pennsylvania:

Like I said I am still, and always will be, learning. Critique, Comments and Tips welcomed please.

I like the last two images out of this series. Nice lighting on the fall leaves and nice composition and effect on the waterfall image.

cindy s,
Thank you! Wonderful shots on your web site! That hen Mallard is outstanding! My photos of the stream and fall colors were taken at Little Buffalo State Park near Newport, Pa. I did not realize that I had a speck of dirt on the lens filter until after I took the bulb shot of the stream. I figured what the heck, I'll just leave it there.

Keep up the beautiful work, Cindy. Thanks for posting.

Thanks Ray. I lucked out with that one. The time of year meant a really great sun angle, time of day provided the right light levels and the calm waters. The colors, it all just kind of came together. After so many years of shooting film I am having a blast learning this digital stuff!

kjfaust,
Thanks. 1.200 seconds on that bulb exposure. I didn't have a light meter so I took a guess and held the button down on the remote.

Here is some more info on the shot:

Flash Used: No

Focal Length: 80.0mm (35mm equivalent: 120m...

Exposure Time: 1.200 s

Aperture: f/22.0

ISO Equiv.: 200

Whitebalance: Auto

Metering Mode: matrix

Exposure: Manual

Exposure Mode: Manual

Exposure Mode: Auto bracketing

As you can see I let the camera do some of the work too. After using a K1000 for so many years I am learning how nice it is to have the camera to help me. I have just started to fool around with whitebalance, saturation and etc... Having a blast too!
