Lighting and remains of Autumn
Posted By: JMR, 12-10-2008, 04:15 PM

A little bit of nature in this cold weather. Some backlighting of the veins of sumach; and the remains of thistles, front and side-lit. Each subject is separated from its background to give it more prominence.

Very beautiful. Nicely isolated and composed. Love the light on both but the thistles are my favorite.

Second one looks great. The first one looks a bit out of focus or maybe blurred a little bit.

Thanks for the feedback. It is mostly shallow depth of field in the first image, so some parts are out of focus. It sure looks good in large format.

I can't pass by this particular thistle and not take a photo. Isn't it a grand plant?! Lovely background you have it against too.

I love the low angle-y light you get this time of year. Nice creamy bokeh on these. What lens did you use? I took some shots of this plant on my recent trip to Oregon. Like LaRee, I have a hard time passing them by.

You are killing me. I can't remember but I think it was my old (sold way back) 100-300 tamron shot about 300mm.
