So, the short version of the story is my 55-300 PLM is toast, so the Tamron came out of (early) retirement and I like the way it rendered the hues in the various types of grasses...a bit brighter when viewed in Lightroom.

Thanks Mike - the silver lining was the lens was used, obtained through MPB who honored their 180 day warranty with no questions asked...refund approved. My new 55-300 PLM should arrive this evening, figured if I can break one I better get a new one with the extra warranty!
