Blue Jay in Tree Near Lake
Lens: Sigma 150-500 DG OS for Pentax Camera: Pentax K-5 IIS Photo Location: NY (near lake) ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/320s Aperture: F13.5

This is a crop of a shot of a Blue Jay I took. It was in a woodsy area near a lake shore. This one stayed for a while in the tree, occasionally cleaning, and getting a little fluffed up sometimes.

Beautiful bird capture. Awesome detail at that F/L. The Sigma and k5IIs seem to be a terrific marriage. Great work.

Thanks a lot. I did have the sun coming well on the front of the blue jay. When I get light like that it helps in being able to use good settings.

Thank you Tony. With the light I had I was able to use F/13 for depth/detail, and a good shutter speed and ISO. The Sigma does well with my K-5 IIs. I was really surprised at the detail that the K-5 IIs was capable of when I first got it. Since then I have used the K-3 II on the 150-500 also, which did well also, but I decided to put the K-3 II on my Pentax 16-85 when I got that, and put the 150-500 back on my K-5 IIs which as I said does well.

Thank you for the nice comment. The Blue Jay was there for awhile, and was cleaning occasionally and facing my way, so I took quite a few shots of it. The bird looked quite healthy.

The light I had contributed well, so I was able to use some good settings for the shot.
