Thanks all for the kudos and kind words - makes me happy that folks are enjoying them. I love to shoot in series like this rather than dwell on a perfect single image. A lot of photographers talk about a single image telling a story. Maybe I'm not an abstract enough thinker, but pictures of constipated looking people with wrinkles don't tell me much of a story at all ... I kid! I kid! ... mostly ;^)

I could be unintentionally sandbagging here. After doing a bit of research, it seems like there are in fact 3 versions of this lens:
1) the original non-WR 18-55 that came as a kit lens
2) a separately issued 18-55 WR that was sold separately as a slight upgrade (mine)
3) later on, a green-ring 18-55, also apparently WR.
Mine has no colored rings on it at all and is all black, with just a white 18-55 printed on the barrel. It's got quite a bit of barrel distortion on the wide end at 18mm and vignettes until stopped down to about f6'ish. At 20mm a lot of that distortion is gone. Neither are a big deal as both the camera and lens are well profiled in my editing software and that cleans up with a press of the button.
On the long end, where most of the above photos were shot, I don't have any major complaints with sharpness. AF speed is really good, or at least good enough for me. I haven't worked AF-C too much yet but expect that it'll be plenty good enough for me.
I think I'm going to be on the hunt now for one of those red-ringed 55-300s!

Thanks - I liked that one alot, too. That was a single capture. AF locked right on to the church through those trees at highway speeds. Great stuff from this K-5. It looks pretty ominous from the highway, just kind of sits up there on that hill high above the freeway behind the thicket. Some day I need to make a point of visiting on-site.
