White At Dusk - Geranium
Lens: Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* F:1.8 28-100 Camera: Sony DSC-RX100 Photo Location: Neighbor's Yard ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/90s Aperture: F4.8

I am recalling waaayyyy back before they had invented anything, back in the early fifties...
But they had already invented geraniums back then--my Mom had a garden full of them.
I remember stumbling around in the lawn while Mom was pulling grass out of her geraniums and I fell into them.
I asserted that, "I don't like 'gernanums'!"
And I never have liked them; boring flowers and the leaves smell funny when crushed.
But now I have found that recent engineers have invented a new kind of light--
Dusk light on a single white geranium bloom!
I actually like it!
But I didn't crush any geranium leaves.
Angky.

Very handsomely captured, Angky!
(and I agree, the leaves do smell funny)

Angky, Nice little story and capture here.. I have never seen that one before. We plant Geraniums here every year and usually take a few indoors for the winter, they bloom all winter and add a touch of warm. They do have that "geranium" smell, but its all good... keeps the Cats from eating them.

That pretty little bloom is a standout among the dark green leaves. Nice colors. I like it also. It takes some time for us to learn to appreciate the beauty of nature.

Thank you, Julie.
I didn't know if I could get it just at dusk with my little Sony P&S pocket camera, but it came out.
Glad it appealed to you!

I have never noticed this one before, either.
Just happened to see it--really "see" it--in the light that came with dusk.
As to keeping the cats away, that is something that is "worth its weight" in smell!
Thanks for the note, Al.

Yes, Mike, you have true words there!
Nature has what it has, but we often see it with eyes that are not turned on.
Thanks for the note!

Very nice little bloom amongst the green leaves. I am glad you are warming up to the geraniums. They have provided me with a lot of fun photography over the years.

A very well constructed floral image. Brilliant capture there, friend.

Thank you for the good words!
As I composed the shot, I was remembering some composition advice I had gotten from a friend who photographs some of the same rose gardens I wish I could go back to.

I wrote this already, but somehow the post didn't "take", so I'll write it again and see if the computer will cooperate with me this time!
Yes, I am "warming up to" the geraniums after your posts.
I've started to see what they have to say. And this one seemed to say something, so I took the shot.
Thanks for your encouragement on the topic!
Angky.

I think so too! To me, this is a very moody shot, in which the white flower serves primarily as a contrast to the dark leaves. Very nice.

Agreed, Jer. The more I look at it, the more I like it.

Yes, that is something like how I saw it when I walked past.
Glad that it can be seen that way in the photo image.
