The Rod Serling Effect
Lens: D FA 15-30 @17 Camera: K-1 Photo Location: Twilight Zone ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/350s Aperture: F11

When I was young, Rod Serling's Twilight Zone was perhaps my favorite show on TV. The program was filmed in B&W, which - along with high contrast and distortion - added to the bizarre character of the stories. The other day, while playing with my DFA 15-20, I photographed a scene that reminded me of Serling: a nearly empty parking lot, a visual non sequitur mid day during an otherwise bustling business week. Shooting at a FL of 17mm yielded distortion, and the bright sun and clouds along with some aggressive PP produced the contrast needed to give me a peek into the Twilight Zone.

Well the setting is right, but your missing the clocks flying at you😊. Seriously, the distortions, empty parking lot and eerie sky all fit the mode of the Twilight Zone. You can imagine landing there and being completely disoriented. Nicely creative.

I like this one! I can hear that deep voice of Rod Serling as he sets the stage for this episode...

You sure got one frame of the Twilight Zone, no question there!
I used to be flat-out freaked by that show!!!
So I'll leave this image in a hurry!
Very good playing you did with that lens!
Angky.

Thanks, Angky. The lens is big and heavy, but operates slickly and produces good stuff - one of the few of the many wide angle lenses I've bought that I actually use.
