Gold Finch Invasion
Lens: Sigma 170-500 DG Camera: Pentax K-5IIs Photo Location: Conway, AR ISO: 1250 Shutter Speed: 1/200s Aperture: F9

With sleet on the ground the Gold Finches showed up in large numbers.

Nice shots. They showed up here in North Central Pennsylvania suddenly about two weeks ago, when the temp was in the 'teens.

Looks like nothing other than an outright invasion!

Angky said it. It is an invasion! I am a big fan of finches. They are great birds to have around the yard.

Thanks for commenting. With ice on the ground and sunflower seeds in the feeder, they come in big numbers.

Thanks Angky. In this case it's more like an invitation to invade. Having feeders full in cold weather brings them in and word travels fast.

Thanks Todd. I also like finches and like to watch them at feeders. Gold Finches come in large groups and can be entertaining in their spats over food.
