This sea creature is known as a Chiton. It is about 30mm long, and lives in tidal rock pools. The soft outer edge is used for travelling by going through a rippling motion, while it devours other small creatures.

Cool capture. I'll bet that's an interesting creature to watch navigating through the water. I don't think I've seen one. Thanks for sharing the image and information.

Interesting image. I gather these critters go back 300 or 400 million years, which means they have survived 3 or 4 mass extinction events, I think?
