New K100D
Posted By: sawtooth235, 12-12-2008, 02:41 PM

I recently purchased a K100D body from a forum member and just recently got the chance to give it a try. This rather large grasshopper showed up this afternoon so I took the opportunity to grab a few shots before he got annoyed with me and flew off.

If anyone knows the species of grasshopper I would be interested to know it's name.

Yeah, I'd like to know what it is as well. I've never seen one like that before Ray, how big was it?
Hope it's not another exotic species invading our shores and destroying the eco system.
I like the second shot, good capture.

Gary,

It was at least 4" long. I was intrigued by the two-tone eyes and fishlike head.

I was able to determine that this insect is a Katydid, Neoconocephalus triops or sometimes called a Broad-head Conehead.

That's funny, it didn't look like Dan Akroyd to me!
