Years ago, I bought an old A 35-70 mm f/4 zoom for 30 $. It performed quite well on the K5 but proved inadequate on the K3. Sunset in Neuville, QUEBEC.

I like the transitions of colors in that sky.
It seems the lens recorded them quite well.
I paid a whole lot more than $30 for my copy of that lens!

I bought a first copy on eBay from Japan for 30 $ When it arrived, the lens was "cracked" completely fore and aft, if I had pulled hard, it would have separated like the cut-away cameras we see sometimes in Pentax ads. So I complained to the seller in Japan and he sent me another "pristine" copy, free of charge. It performs really well on the K5, is so-so on the K3 and a total disaster on the K1, despite being a full-frame lens.
