Here are some shots of some truly classic Porsches on display at the Porsche Club concours I enjoyed last Saturday.

Jer

1965 Porsche 356C - built during the final year of the long-running 356 series which began in 1948. The car's production was stopped in '65 to make way for the first 911:

1959 Porsche 356A:

1970 Porsche 911S:

1987 Porsche 911 Turbo (930):

Outstanding images Jer. This company has a long history of manufacturing sports cars that are undeniably Porsches. These classics are a great part of that history.

Beautiful shots, Jer. In that one of the 356C, you can really see how the lines were evolving towards the 911. Such pretty cars...

Interesting shots to look at!
Only sports car I ever really would have liked to own was the 911.

Really, really wonderful images of those vehicles of a time gone by. Beautifully crafted and more fun than a barrel of Russians to drive. )

Thnx so much for sharing.

Thanks, Mike! And I agree, looking at the 356SC, you can - in retrospect - see where Porsche's design language was going.

Excellent images of some great looking cars! That 1970 was an interesting choice of color. The early 70's in automotive produced some strange colors.

Hey, Todd - thanks much! And - yeah - the "earth tones" were very popular in the '70s.

The thing is, you couldn't sell a new car in those hues and shades... but on a period car, it looks so right

That's the truth, Mike. Here in the states, the colors are white, silver, gray and black . . . . . . . with a little darkish metallic red thrown in.

I do like these pics.

Years ago (very early 1960's) , an older work colleague had a Porsche 356 coupe , which he used as his everyday transportation... and in his case, neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stayed him from the swift completion of this appointed rounds. * Winter driving, hot summers, icy roads....all were part of this Porsche's experience.

He eventually traded in the Porsche in on a domestic station wagon , once he became a family man. A relative of his was quite wealthy and had all sorts of import exotica...which he (colleague) would take out and fulfill his need for speed.

I love the shape of these early Porsches.....which of course seems to have more or less...continued with Porsche later models...particularly of the 911.

* With apologies to the U.S. Postal Service

Hey, Les - thanks for looking. Yeah, Porsche's design language for the the 911 originated with the 356; I like to say that a car enthusiast who went to sleep in '65 and woke up today, would recognize a 911 as a Porsche, even without badging.

I think you're right. He'd be the Rip Van Winkle of the car world.
