Actually a couple of covered bridges over frozen water!
While working yesterday I came upon a pair of beautiful covered bridges. They are quite rare in this area and to see a pair of them was even better. They are small and only intended for livestock or a small tractor; certainly not vehicular traffic.
My challenge was shooting them in the brilliant winter sunlight. Shadows take on shades of blue and the snow is dazzling, almost twinkling like little jewels. The bright red boards on the bridge made for a lovely contrast against the blue sky and white snow; it was impossible to resist, I had to stop and take a few pictures.
First is the larger of the two. Unfortunately, I unknowingly clipped the upper right corner of the structure. I'll try again if I am back there another day.

This is a 100% crop from the image to show detail. Decent enough, but makes me pine for a K20D.

This is the second little covered bridge. I was shooting directly into the sun and that added to the challenge. I had to work it a bit in Photo Shop CS2 to bring out the shadows. It's a cute little structure though. I was tempted to wade through the ditch and cut that damn wire that runs horizontally through the whole image, but thought the farmer might be pissed.
And finally is another 100% crop of the image showing detail. I couldn't read what the numbers where until I did this. This lens is becoming my favourite!
I guess I should have mentioned I was using a K10D with the Voigtlander Nokton 55mm. My photographic life is so much more enjoyable since I installed the split screen Katz-Eye. Manual focus is more natural for me.
Thanks for looking; comment's are appreciated.
