Brown Thrasher and Blue Jay
Lens: Sigma 135-400 APO Camera: Pentax KP Photo Location: Conway, AR ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/350s Aperture: F8

A pair of Brown Thrashers have established a nest in the Back Yard so I had the opportunity to get some shots of one watching over the nesting site. Included a couple of Blue Jay shots in a Hawthorne Tree also.

You've really described that brown thrasher with some emphasis.
Seems almost like a bird I'd like to get to know.

Thanks Angky. I guess the reason for emphasis is due to scarcity of viewing these birds. I see them around every year, but mostly in fleeting glances. This year a pair is nesting in a wild rose bush close to the house and this gives me more opportunities to see and photograph them. I like their look and they are not near as fiesty as their mockingbird relatives.

Excellent series Mike! I really like the lighting on the two Brown Thrasher shots. The eyes are nice and bright.

Thanks Todd. The Trasher was in a tree in close proximity to the nest. The mate went into the nest area while I was viewing.
