Travel Interstate-15 at Nipton Road exit, CALIFORNIA near the Nevada Stateline

Coming from Las Vegas, I exited at Nipton Road to have a glimpse of Nipton, then proceed towards Southern California via the Mojave Nat'l Preserve. K1 + DFA 28-105 mm HD @ f/11.

Places like this always make me want to get off the mainline and go climbing up an old mining road into the back country.

Nipton was sort of a disappointment. It's a very small community with practically no services in town. They have an old black and white Police car with a dummy (mannequin) inside to make people slow down entering the village and a "General Store" that was closed at the moment of my visit. If you continue on the Nipton Road, you cross back into Nevada, so I turned around. You see the Ivanpah Solar Furnaces in the distance and reach an old road leading towards the Mojave Nat'l Preserve. Not worth the waste of time, really. The view from the overpass was the best part of this ... derouting.
