Goose Goslings Gander
Lens: HD-DA 55-300 Camera: K-70 Photo Location: Sacramento Valley ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/750s Aperture: F8

Looks like all the nesting geese in this irrigation canal / creek have now hatched--this family has been here for a couple of weeks.
The canals and ponds are swiftly filling with the summer algae bloom.
This family seems to be doing well, although they have to swim through this patch of algae to clear water--which doesn't seem to bother them a great deal.
The young ones are growing very well under the very watchful eyes of their parents.
Angky.

That is one cool shot of a big family. I've never seen them lined up like that. They are all going through the algae with an ice (algae) breaker leading the way. Love those green colors. Nice catch and capture.

Serious business for the geese with issues of survival, but still - there is something to make you smile at with that long single file, with a parent up front, and at the rear.

Great catch, angky!

A lot of the goose families here are doing like that--momma up front, gosslings following momma, and then the one who sticks out his neck to make sure things are understood follows at the rear--unless he sees something up front that needs his long, hissing neck!

Yes, a big family here. Several of the families have only two little ones--I think predators have taken out the others.
Thanks for the comment!

Yes, it makes for a smile!
And those parents take their job seriously--extremely seriously!
Thanks for the comment.

Thank you, EM.
I was glad that I caught it in time.
They were just about ready to get into water clear of algae where it would be a very different image.
(But I do wish they didn't have all that algae coming from our ways of doing things to nature.)
Angky.
