Curious lady

Had these female Pileated Woodpecker show up yesterday and wander around the woods behind the house, checking out this and that.

Great shots of the Pileated Woodpecker. I love seeing those big birds. We used to see them more often, but we have too many houses added in recent years. Thanks much for posting these images.

Property appraisal perhaps?
Look for your property taxes to increase!
Really liked the shots of those birds that I thought were extinct. (Shows how much I don't know about birds!)

I appreciate the replies. I'm fortunate in that I live on the edge of a woods that covers thousands of acres, so these birds are still common. They're a lot easier to shoot when they come to me.

You're thinking of the Ivory Billed Woodpecker, last seen in 1944. They were similar looking to the Pileated.

Pretty much a deep woods bird. Your climate is likely to dry for them.
