Indigo Bunting
Lens: Sigma 135-400 APO Camera: Pentax KP Photo Location: Yard ISO: 640 Shutter Speed: 1/320s Aperture: F5.6

I have been trying to get a decent image of the Indigo Bunting for a few days. I finally got some yesterday. Hope you like.

Thank for you comments. I'm not sure of the extent of their range. They arrive here in spring and stay most of the summer. I often see them in our Mimosa tree.

We had them here in Central Florida for just a few short weeks, long-gone now. They came to my feeders several times while they were around, and do so every spring. No idea where they spend most of the year.

Thanks for commenting. Looks like they winter in Central America and spend summers in the southwest and and most of the eastern United States.

Thank you. For once, the bird approached close enough to allow a clear shot. I'll likely try to get more photos when our Mimosa tree blooms. They seem to like those blooms.

Thanks Jer. I love their vivid color. The color varies greatly based on lighting. The females are brown.
