Morningside on the South Rim. Best viewing hour is between 5h00 and 6h00 AM. Sometimes it is windy and a little cold this early, even in July. Pentax K1 + DFA 28-105 mm HD in the longest Focal Range.

Beautiful shots. It does look like a good time to be there.

It's kind of funny, I live in Arizona and I forget just how beautiful the Grand Canyon is. I've been there so many times, I couldn't begin to count. I inherited the job of taking relatives up there when I was 16 because my dad was sick of taking them over the years. Now, I don't think I've been there in 20 years. I think it might be time when I head north again.

Great shots, Richard. Your shots show the importance of proper lighting to maximize the scene. Good work.

Thank you !

On each of my trips West, I always spent at least 5 days camping in Grand Canyon Nat'l Park (specifically Desert View in the Eastern part of the Park). I get up early (easy for someone coming from the East and used to Eastern Daylight Time) and contemplate the Canyon in 3 or 4 viewpoints at sunrise. I spend my day exploring the Park along Route 64, eating at Grand Canyon General Store or driving to restaurants in Tusayan, taking the bus to tour the Western viewpoints no longer accessible by private car, etc. I visit the same viewpoints near sunset again to admire the changing light and rest in the campground during the evening. Almost like a pilgrimage in a sacred sanctuary.

Regards
