A Strutting Stilt
Lens: DA*300 Camera: K-1 Photo Location: Texas Sea Center ISO: 140 Shutter Speed: 1/750s Aperture: F5.6

This bird - IIRC - is called stilt. This is only the second time I've seen one. I'd have to go back and look to be sure, but I think I converted the shots I took at my first encounter to B&W. This one I (obviously) post processed for color.

Yes, that's a black-necked stilt.

Very nice contrast between the colors (?) of the bird and the water.

You're getting some really nice shots at the Texas Sea Center. All the things that mlynch53 noted and more. Great focus on the stilt. Keep shooting.

Hey, Todd - thanks very much. There was a diverse group of birds when I was there the other day.

Fascinating bird to look at.
His eye, his very long bill. His "stilt" legs.
Something I've not seen in real life.
Angky.

Thanks for looking! I've not seen over two or three of these, at least that I remember. Never heard of 'em until I photographed one some time back.
