Yeah it's there. It's sensor noise. much of the shot is very underexposed and that will show sensor noise. It's one area DSLR's have more trouble with over film IMO.

Did you have NR on? That helps with night shots.

Thanks for your reply Peter. Yes, I had noise reduction on and ISO was set to 100. I just looked at the raw files at 100% magnification and it's very difficult to see. I must have accentuated it with my raw processing. I did bring up the shadows and midtones quite a bit to bring out the clouds. I guess I overdid it.

nice... I tried taking a photo of the moon ther other night with some clouds around it; either its a great big puff ball of bright light, or I dont have enough details on the moon.... :P
Thank you for the comment, and welcome to the forum! If you wish, here's a suggestion you can try:

Set your camera for spot metering, and meter on the moon. Depending on how bright the moon is (proximity to horizon, clouds, etc.), you may need some "+" exposure compensation. I use manual mode, so that once the exposure is set, I can recompose without the exposure changing. Verify the exposure with the histogram. Hope that helps. Also, if you shoot raw, you have more latitude to bring out the details in post processing.

That first one is excellent. That would make a great Movie poster. One of the best moon shots ever posted here. Love the mood.
Wow, thank you Peter! Your comment is a great motivator to keep shooting and learning. I struggle with evaluating my own work and determining if my photos are improving.

Replaced Originals

Reprocessed and replaced originals in an attempt to reduce the sensor noise streaking.
