Dragonflies with Parasites

These are two different dragonflies, but both have parasites on them, I believe. The second one has a huge ball of them on its underside.

Two very beautiful flying insect captures. With that many parasites, one wonders how it is that the Dragonfly is still living. Thanks very much for sharing.

Nice captures. The first looks very sharp and detailed. I'm glad to see that second image. I couldn't say whether it is parasites or something else, but I have seen it on some dragon flies. Thanks for posting.

Two cool shots, Todd. Maybe those aren't parasites - maybe they may just the dragonflies to make a fashion statement!

Thanks Mike! I wasn't sure about what was on the second one, but I saw some similar images on line.

Thanks Jer! Yes, maybe it is a dragonfly version of designer wear.

On second study, I suspect that those are not parasites, but quite possibly eggs.

Again, very nice images.

Thanks Tony! I am still not sure. Most photos that I found show that they lay eggs from the end of their long abdomen. I am certain the tiny red balls are parasites, but who knows about the other thing.
