A Skipper butterfly was feeding on some purple flowers in the front yard. Got some macro type images at 400mm.

A neighbor gave my wife a potted flower similar to the one you show here, but I have not idea what it might be.
Nor do I know if it is even the same flower.
As to the butterfly, I have never seen such an insect.
Resembles a bunch of shattered autumn leaves, and I really like that combination of browns.
Glad you posted it.
Angky.

Thanks Angky. Actually these are perennials in this area. Our daughter in law gave them to my wife last year and they came back this year. The third image has an unopen bloom on the left. They kind of pop open. The butteryfly is definitely a Skipper. They seem to be many varieties. This one does have a good color pattern. I am glad that you liked them
