The Singing Trees 2008 - production shots
Posted By: mediaslinky, 12-17-2008, 06:44 PM

A few weeks ago I posted some rehearsal shots from this, so I thought I'd put up some of the actual production. 2 Trees. Over 40 feet tall. 350 choir members. 7 Presentations, with over 32,000 in attendance. All handheld with shake reduction on. 1600 ISO.

Camera: Pentax K100D
Exposure: 0.033 sec (1/30)
Aperture: f/4.5
Focal Length: 35 mm
kit lens
The opening section featured drama and dance with video thrown onto the large silver curtain.

Camera: Pentax K100D
Exposure: 0.125 sec (1/8)
Aperture: f/3.5
Focal Length: 18 mm
kit lens
At a particular point in the show, the kabuki curtain dropped, and the Trees were revealed. See a multi angle video here: YouTube - Kabuki Montage small.mov

Superb images. Your balance of light and colors against black areas is excellent.

Excellent work. The camera did well at 1600 and the WB seems spot on. Incredible production from the look of it. Great stuff.

Well, if that doesn't put you in the Christmas Spirit I don't know what will.

Wonderful series that is technically spot on (as Damn Brit might say).

Thanks. You should see the ones I threw away. =) Luckily I had shot the rehearsal, and had an idea of what to expect from light. There are things I would change of I could, but I thought these worked for the most part.
