Bug Safari in Ireland
Lens: smc PENTAX-D FA MACRO 100mm F2.8 WR Camera: K-1 Mark II Photo Location: County Cavan

I spent time in Panama and Hong Kong, both of which boasted a bountiful treasure of insects and spiders to photograph. Here in Ireland I have to look harder, but on Friday afternoon I went for a long stroll along a gravel road separating fields and forest and there was quite a bit to see:

A weevil:


I think this is a female large red damselfly:


And I think this is a male:


Another weevil:


Spider (pregnant?):


Shield bug?:


Unknown beetle:


Unknown insects:

You had a productive stroll. I like the damsel flies and the spider best although all are good detailed captures. Were these flash photos or another source? I wonder sometimes how we look to others, taking such photos.

Thanks for the comments. These were taken with my AF160FC ring flash, which doesn't get enough use these days.
