Nice pictures , It looks like the wings move very fast. One of these days I hope to take pictures of them. Thanks for showing them.

Thanks for viewing and commenting. Somewhere along the the line in processing the images, I lost the camera settings. Likely F8 and in the range 1/1000 to 1/1500 shutter speed. Hope you get some shots of them soon.

Nice shots. That is a big bug. I really like the sharpness of the body with the wings blurred in motion.

Thank you. It's difficult to get shots of these insects without motion blur of the wings, but I also like the blur.

I think I might have a bit of trouble keeping my cool with such a flutter-beast close to me!
Good shots of it.
Angky.

Thanks for commenting, Angky. I shot these photos using at 400mm on the KP. These insects aren't very close using a telephoto lens and don't show any signs of aggression. They are more hard to keep up with than anything else.

Great shots of a Snowberry Clearwing Moth, Mike. There are four "hummingbird" moths in North America and this one, Hemaris diffinis, is common across the eastern 2/3 of the USA. More info here:

Thank you, Todd. I just reviewed the link provided by Jack, and it seems that you are on the fringe of their territory. I see these moths mainly at the nature preserve, but also occasionally in my yard.
