Pink Gladiola
Lens: HD Pentax DA 16-85mm Camera: K-70 Photo Location: Mountain Church Yard ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/125s Aperture: F8

A tiny church high in the "gold country" of the Sierra Nevada Mountains has a master gardener lovingly caring for that church's yard.
I had never seen such a brilliantly pink gladiola.
Maybe it was just the high mountain's clear air or sun--or something!
Angky.

Just as you described it. Bright pink and captured with good details and petal textures. That dash of deeper pink didn't hurt either. Very nice capture

Thank you, Tony!
The plant was just sitting there in the church yard as if nobody had a thought for it.
So all I could do was to try to give it some appreciation!
Hope it liked posing for me!
And, again, thanks for the past coaching!
Angky.

Thank you, Mike!
Your assessments, like with this one, really do help me to focus on finding a nice image.
The flower just stood there in the bright sun, glowing out for all the world to see,
Angky.

Thanks much!
The pink was just there to be recorded.
The contrasting center was also there, but benefitted by a little bit of post enhancement. I learned a bit more on this image.
Thanks for the assessment.
Angky.

It seems to be in the pink of condition!!
Seriously, wonderful colour, and a capture that does justice to its subject.

The more I study this subject, I cannot help but notice there are many similarities to Hibiscus flowers. Just an observation and again, a very beautiful rendering and many thanks for the treat.

Well done.

Yes, there are substantial similarities in the blooms. Yet, I think glads belong to the classification of monocotyledons and hibiscus to the dicots.
So, how there is so much similarity in the two blooms, yet such vastly different "families", one has to wonder how it all works out in the hierarchy of plant classifications...
Interesting topic you raise, for sure!
I'm glad the image brings up such questions--and that you find it interesting to pursue!
Thankful also, I am, for the beautiful flower to be available when I happened to go by there.
Angky.
