Tiger Swallowtail butterflies are one of my favorites and your captures are excellent. There is a color variance between the first and second butterfly image. I have seen mainly the bright yellow types. Is this a male/female difference or just a normal color variation? Thanks for sharing. Mike

A few things here. The bottom of the wings are a bit paler than the tops. As you can see in the sliver of the top wing in the image with the wings closed. Also, the sun was going in and out of cloud cover when shooting, so exposure is a bit different. Lastly, these were PP a bit differently as the one with the wings open was in mostly shadow.

Thanks. Variable/different lighting can make a big difference in perceived color. That explains it well.
