Cold Morning at the Nursery
Posted By: Damn Brit, 12-19-2008, 12:34 PM

The Bay Area has had the coldest weather for years this week. Snow in Berkely, Autumn isn't over yet!

Here's a selection of shots I took at the nursery I work at.

I do recommend viewing the larger versions.

First is a shot of frosty Japanese Maple leaves

Next a Gunnera (Giant Rhubarb) with it's leaf trapped in ice

Next a Frosty Fence Post

A frozen Bird Bath

An Icy Fountain

Frosty Grevillea

Last but not least, Ice Rose Thanks for looking.

I'd rather be in your kind of cold Jimbo, but down here, what we've had is unusual. You can tell that from the fact that roses are still blooming. thanks for commenting.

Cool shots Gary. My faves are the first, the fountain, and the rose... I live about two hours east of you, and it was about 20°F yesterday morning and just a bit warmer this morning. I didn't know you got snow there outa that last system - wild.

Great shots Gary!

Frame that first one - it is a beauty! All hail Voigtlander!

Thanks for sharing.

It's disappointing to see everyone in North America is suffering through this horrible winter. It really is making me miserable. (I'm going to Cuba soon. If it snows there I will cry!)

Great series Gary. Glad you took the camera to work. The first and last shots are excellent. Love that rose shot. If you get another day like this, make sure you take the tripod to work and a macro lens.

As for the cold. it's -16C tonight. I'm getting way too old for this....

Thanks Ole, it does get cold where I work, at least 10 degrees colder than where I live just over 6 miles away. But not this cold usually until the New Year and even then only certain areas. I never thought I'd see snow falling just a couple of hundred feet up the street from me.

Gary - a very nice series. As others have said, number 1 is exceptional.
