Pixel Shifted image, K3 III + HD DA 16-85 mm ED @ 35 mm FL and f/11 on tripod.
Lens: HD DA 16-85 mm ED Camera: Pentax K3 III Photo Location: Quebec, CANADA ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/250s Aperture: F11

One of the 30 odd pictures I took last Saturday morning. Pixel Shifting takes a little time for the camera to process. I composed this picture carefully, made sure the tripod was perfecly level and chose the 35 mm FL on the zoom because I know this is where the lens is sharpest and contrastiest. I set the Av mode and chose f/11, then triggered the camera with great care not to induce any shake at all. This is the resulting picture ...

Excellent shot, Richard. Looks great on my tablet but to really tell if pixel shift aided it would require close examination. Colors are deep and very good.

Even on this low-res post, I can see the sharp definition in the rock textures and the leaves on the far side of the stream.
I don't know what does it--I think it is the precisely defined color boundaries in all the pixels--where there is no need for camera interpolation.
But it is such a pain to set up and shoot that I seldom do it.
I think the water has slightly less definition than it would have without the pixel-shift. But maybe it's just my imagination.
Angky.

THX !

That's what I suspect too. I will proceed to a second try on an absolutely still, full of details, building when sunshine comes back to Canada ... I'm turning 70 today, never thought I'd reach this age.

Best Regards

Happy Birthday Richard! I definitely like the results on the rocks and trees. I would think the movement in the water would create artifacts, but it is hard to tell looking at this resolution image.

Thank you so much !

I think the water may not be as sharp as the rest of the image but it was brightly lit and no movement can be discerned, really.

I think I'm a better image-maker at 70 than I ever was in my life. That's what's sad about getting older : you are at the "top of your art" but you don't have long to live from now on ...

Best Regards

There is always going to be some movement in the water and the trees so I think its not surprising the pixel shifting has done its best on the still items.

Some Basilica, here we come. I have not yet decided which but I will try Pixel Shifting on a huge Church somewhere around here with the DA* 50-135 mm ED @ f/8 on tripod.
