Short Growing Season
Lens: SMC Pentax-DFA Macro f:2.8 100mm WR Camera: K-1 ii Photo Location: High Sierra Nevada Mtns ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/125s Aperture: F5.6

On a cliff face in the Sierra Nevada Mountains east of Sacramento, the road barely holds onto the side of the mountain high above the American River.
This little plant had no trouble hanging onto the mountain, but has a very short season to grow.

Yup! "And the meek shall inherit the Earth." Very nice work. Very interesting and thought provoking. Many thanks for sharing. Excellent example of: The Golden Ratio."

Hung on, but didn't thrive. Nice capture of the rugged mountain side. Looks like a tough place for anything to grow in any season.

Right, it didn't thrive.
But it did produce its seeds in spite of the difficult growing environment.
I don't know these plants but I find them often growing in these rocky places.
They are not grasses, as they appear to be. They are broad-leaved plants with seed pods--which is what we see.
So it did reproduce. How it manages to do so, is a mysterious thing to me, and why I sometimes photograph them.
Thanks for your note on it.
Angky
