Streetlights of Eternity
~~~~~
Star trails seemingly emanating from one of the tufas at Trona Pinnacles, CA on a very hot August evening. The pinnacles are tufas left from an ancient lake bed.
Alignment is everything in preparation for this capture. I will admit that I had to look up tufas to determine how this was formation occurred. I assume that this is a north star alignment. Great work in creating this image. I love those spiral star trails.
"Tufas" is not a word that typically rolls off people's lips.
Basically, Trona Pinnacles were formed at the bottom of an ancient lake.
Thank you very much! I usually don't do super-prominent star trails, but here, it felt right.
And yes, you are right, this is a North Star alignment. I was a bit uneasy about this one, more than usual, because my eyesight is not as good since I had surgery for a detached retina. I flipped through the photos to see the movement and it looked on, but I didn't know if it were spot on until I opened up the "stack" in Photoshop! Definitely let loose a "whooop!" when I saw it!
Very good work on that!
And even better that you are able to make such good images after a detached retina.
Angky.
Thanks. A little more challenging to line up, but not too bad!
