Pipevine Swallowtail Butterfly at the Nature Preserve
Lens: Sigma 135-400 APO Camera: Pentax KP Photo Location: Hendrix Nature Preserve ISO: 320 Shutter Speed: 1/500s Aperture: F8

Happened upon this beautiful butterfly at the Nature Preserve and had to get some shots I did not know what is was until I looked it up.

Great series of captures Mike. They are a beautiful species, and you got some terrific shots of them.

Those are actually the same butterfly?
At first I thought you had captured several different kinds!

Thank you, Todd. I took a lot of shots of this butterfly because it had so many different looks from different angles. The colors of this one were outstanding and I believe it's the first time I've seen this species.

Thank you very much, Loris. Another single subject series of shots. Sometimes, it is good to take many shots to really show the subject from several views. It was a beautiful subject.

Thanks, Angky. Yes, it is one butterfly, but it was a pretty one that deserved to be shown from all angles. I enjoyed photographing it, because every shot seemed to reveal more aspects of it.
