Interesting animal. That long sniffer isn't just for looks. Nice detailed capture with very natural colors.

What a treat, Rob...I've never seen a bandicoot before! I had heard the name but never saw an image of one. Thanks!

He looks cute, but probably is one very bothersome pest of a little animal!
His eyes look like they have evil intentions...!
Angky.

A good catch there Rob! He looks a little uncomfortable being caught out in the open, and not sure which way to go.

Thanks! I think the computer game "crash bandicoot" character made the name known outside Oz? There's several species, but I've only seen two - the Southern and Northern Brown Bandicoots.

They have been known to dig up garden beds sometimes, but I haven't heard of them described as pests. Sadly, this species is extinct in most of it's former range because of more bothersome pests - foxes and cats.

Thanks! You're exactly right. They prefer being amongst the grass and bushes than out in the open. Being on an asphalt path is much worse!
I stayed still and he hopped across to the grass on my right which he was headed towards, to look for grubs.

Hm, can't say that I've heard of the game, but I had heard the animal's name somewhere or other. Now I know (more or less) what they look like.
