White car in bright noon direct sun?

White cars (and black as well for that matter) are a bear to photograph. That's why you rarely saw white cars in the cover or car magazines. Remember those?
Back in the day, slide film, used by many car photographers, did not have a lot of dynamic range. Early digital cameras neither. Today, digital cameras have come a long way in dynamic range.
Common photography wisdom says you try to avoid harsh light. Nothing harsher than the tropical sun at noon with no clouds. Combine that with a white car and you have a recipe for disaster. Or is it? Since I've never claimed to be normal, I saw it as a personal challenge.
I went to a local auto show today, organized as a fund raiser for a teenager girl who needs heart surgery. Pun intended, it is heart breaking. It was more of a "show whatcha brung" Old, new, bicycles, trucks, whatever strike your fancy as long as you contribute. Our car culture community did not disappoint and responded to the call.
Not surprisingly, two of my favorite cars of the show were a C8 and C7 Corvette pair. But both were pearl white.
Despite been very crowded, I looked at my K5II and told her (it's a she) "let's go for it!"
Av mostly between f2.8 and f5.6 but I played with ISO and compensation. Many of these were at -1 stop protecting the highlights. Shadow recovery at PP.

It was very crowded with hundreds of vehicles! I really hope it was a huge success for the cause.

These are some very nice images Ismael. As you mentioned, a white car in bright sunlight is not the easiest thing to shoot, particularly when you are focused in tightly on the black components as well. I really like the straight on shot of the Corvette badge with the flecks of the metallic white paint visible. I am glad to see there was a good turnout for the fund raiser, and I hope the best for the young girl.

You did a good job on all of the images. You seemed to have overcome any potential problems. Good cause and good work. I hope the fund raiser was successful.

You gave yourself quite a challenge--and came up to it!
Glad to see the excellent images.
Even more glad to see the response to the need as well as your support of a good cause.
