Just for Fun
Lens: HD Pentax-FA 77mm Ltd F1.8 Camera: K10D Photo Location: Neighbor's Garden-Sac. ISO: 400
Posted By: angkymac, 10-20-2022, 07:20 PM

What does a person do when they need a break from the intensity of trying to produce "the perfect image"? (--which I cannot do, but still the idea remains!!)
Well I pulled the trusty old K10D off the shelf and twisted a nice prime lens into it--FA 77mm 1.8--before I took a long walk.
I shot whatever that camera saw--mostly brightly colored flowers, and mostly red.

I had a lot of fun with that old camera just letting it produce its own jpg-s.
Not a bad old camera at all!
Angky.

A nice series of shots and I feel the lighting makes them stand out.

Just for fun is always a good reason for photography. Enjoying the process of capturing photos is what keeps us doing it. I agree that this is a very nice series of images and that the darkened backgrounds make the flowers stand out. Good work and thanks for sharing.

The lighting was always one of the issues with the K10D.
It could handle only about 2 - 3 stops below neutral gray before it got really noisy.
But if I pretend I have ASA 400 film in it (the fastest that I ever used pre-digital), then it darkens the background nicely, allowing the focal point to be prominent.
Thanks for your note.

Doing it for fun--yes, we need to keep remembering that!
This morning I attached a very old 50mm lens to my K10D and wandered around in the woods.
I pretended that I has hunting shots 40-50 years ago with my Super Program or MX.
I really enjoyed an hour or two of sunrise, and I happened to get a few nice shots too.
Thanks for your note!

Yes! I've found some beautiful results from that lens!
And it works really well for me on the APSC size sensor--about like my old favorite on full frame--the 100mm macro.
And fits onto the cameras so well.
Thanks for your note!

I go out and do this same thing quite often, just looking for whatever I come across to photograph. These are very nice floral images taken in a variety of lighting conditions. Good work Angky!

It was enjoyable to accept the limitations of an old camera and one prime lens--just taking whatever fit within the parameters imposed by that equipment.
I'm glad you appreciated the results!
Angky.
