I don't know if this is my "best" but it was the one I worked for the most. Spent hours on multiple days paddling in a canoe trying to get shots of Loons with their babies. Light wasn't the greatest and I never got that shot of a baby on the back but I like this one because the parents are staring into each others eyes.

Oh, do you know how hard it is to take shot with a 400mm lens from a canoe even with a monopod! Not easy

@Lowell: I personally like the third one the best. It's the rare type of a shot that's actually facing you instead of on its side =)

I am not a twitcher in any sense of the word, but I saw this scene developing and think I was lucky to get the shot. Could it be better? Yes. Do I have better pictures of birds? Yes. This remains my favorite based on DOD in getting such behaviors on film. So... my best, arguable. Even close to good given what's posted here? Nope. My favorite this year? Yep.
