DA*300 with Kenko 1.5xTC bird feeder shots
Posted By: palmor, 12-23-2008, 08:33 AM

So far so good with the DA*300 and Kenko 1.5x TC. Nothing interesting in the way of birds or shots, just some decent examples of this combo.

Thanks
John

Shutter speed was a little slow in this one to stop his movement.. still came out OK thought.

Great shots and the detail with the combo is quite good... i'll have to re-experiment with the f*300 and kenko when i'm in florida in late january. what was the approximate 'lens to subject' distance?

Great job with the DA* John
Which kenko do you have? My 1,5x shq hunts way too much. I would get the DG if I knew it would work OK

Great shots! I also got the Kenko 1.5 TC (Kenko for Digital Conversion Lens AF 1.5 x Teleplus DG) a couple days ago and it works great on my FA lenses. On my DA* 300 f4 however, I have no autofocus with it and have to focus manually. Does yours do this too, or is it just my TC?

It was probably about 10-12'. All those shots are cropped slightly.

I do agree that in less the good light it hunts a little too much for my taste but in good light is seems to be OK (not lightning quick but fast enough). (see version info below)

I guess only the older version works. The version I have the Pz-AF 1.5x Teleplus SHQ version. Pictures of the TC can be found in this thread:

I've actually used this TC successfully on my Tokina AT-X 400 f/5.6 lens with AF (this DOES hunt in anything but perfect light) so I'm not surprised that it works pretty well with the DA*300

Great shots John! The Da* 300 seems to be a great lens and you put it to good use here.

That looks exactly like my kenko, I'll have to give it another try. Sometimes 510mm with the 1.7x is a bit too much
