They are ugly, but they look pretty well constructed for what they do, which seems to be harassing people. Fly swatters are abundant around my house.

You captured that fly in all of its ugliness. Excellent macro.
The original movie starred Vincent Price. It ended with with his face on a fly body caught in a spider web, crying for help. It wasn't as racy as Jeff Goldblum's movie, just creepy.

The background that fly rests on is an interesting one.
The insect on top of that background is also "interesting"! YUCK!!!
