Iceland From 33,000 Feet
Lens: Pentax-D FA 70-210mm F4.0 Camera: K-1 Photo Location: Iceland ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/500s Aperture: F11

On October 19 I took a flight from Frankfurt to Los Angeles. Since it was a day time flight I'd hoped for some interesting wilderness areas. I had prepared with a long lens mounted and made sure the camera was easily accessible. So when we passed directly over Iceland with fairly clear skies I grabbed the camera. There is no time to dilly dally when travelling at 550 or so miles per hour.

Wonderful shot! You were lucky to get a really clear window to capture all that detail.

Almost looks like a pale crescent moon followed by a dark trail. Good timing to catch this between the clouds

Excellent image. I love how the stark mountain scape is revealed through the breaks in the clouds.

That is a very impressive shot from an airline flight. When I fly I spend my time looking for views to photograph. I have never seen a view this good. Well done.

A great shot caught in perfect time with perfect framing (for an airplane flight).
Good luck to catch it like this and good work too!
