Shifting Sands - Namib Desert · **4 Likes**

The Namib Desert in Namibia has many faces, although I find the dunes the most fascinating.

Every year these dunes along the Atlantic coast move inland in one season and then move back towards the ocean in the next season.

Whereas the desert is harsh and life has to adopt to severe conditions to survive, the dunes portray an image of softness with alluring curves, a kind of gentleness...

I really like this desert landscape. It is smooth but also has some very nice texture across the dunes. Excellent capture and interesting information.

Thank you Angky. A local photographer told me that the desert mountains are the male side of the desert, whilst the dunes are the female side.

Going for a walk in the dunes is a calming experience. I can sit there and watch it all day long. Similar to staring at a camp fire.
