Nice landscape. With the telephoto lens, you got to the position needed to take the shot. An excellent telephoto lens will provide good results. I haven't been to New Mexico in many years, but I am not surprised by the pretty landscape.

Sometimes there is just no access or a way to get close to the shot needed and cropping too much reduces quality. This is where good telephoto shines in landscapes. 300mm F4 is one of my favorite Pentax lenses.
New Mexico is very diverse but lots of people think of it as mostly desert and either forget or never experienced Southern Rockies in New Mexico.
