Shooting into the sun

The shot of the bird actually came out pretty good before the washout. Are these the actual colors of the bird or are they overly dark due to backlight?

It is not the side lit by the sun, but the picture is good.

Looks good to me. Your exposure compensation of 1.3 seemed to do the trick.

Cooper’s Hawks vary from brownish gray to bluish gray on the back feathers. This image is not far off from reality. I tried to keep the darkening within bounds but there was a lot of backlight.

Thanks. I know you have posted images of them before but wasn't sure if it was affected by the backlight.
