Toad Suck Ferry Lock and Dam No. 8

The Toad Suck Ferry Lock and Dam on the Arkansas River near Conway is one of 17 locks and dams built on the river for navigation. The system was ready for full use in 1970 and covers 443 miles.

Thanks for your comments. This dam was built at the sight where a ferry once crossed the river. The overhead structure is the highway.

Nice image Mike. It looks like a great place to visit, and I bet there are some terrific nature photo opportunities there.

You caught some great bird images here a week or so ago.
Now we see the structure in its interesting display.

Thanks Angky. I primarily wanted to show the width of the dam in this image. These lock and dams maintain a level of water to provide a certain channel depth for navigation.
