and the rugged coastline of Oregon. I have been going through and converting some images to black & white, and this seemed like a good candidate.

That's a good image for black and white. Like those waves rolling in. Nice shot and conversion.

You picked a great one for B&W.
Looks like this must be along the southern Oregon coast.

No, I stuck to the high ground. I will leave the surfing to others.

Thanks Mike. Black & white seems to show more drama in the scene.

Thanks Angky. It is actually near Lincoln City on the central Oregon coast.

Thank you kindly KD! This was as good as it gets for mild weather on the Oregon coast.

weather on the Oregon coast
I recently saw some work on the internet from a chap called Nick Page, he had some quite stunning imagery from that coastline.

Enough to make me think that I should add it to my ever increasing bucket list, especially when weather conditions are quite inclement.

Just a pointer for anyone unfamiliar with these kind of conditions … an on-shore breeze, one that's "pushing" the waves up the beach, will tend to flatten the waves, giving far less impressive conditions than an off-shore breeze, which will quite literally hold the waves upright so they are taller for longer
Just something to consider when checking the weather forecast before driving however far it is to the beach
Also, an off-shore breeze will be taking all that nasty salt spray away from your lens and camera!
That's not to say that there won't be sand and such blowing around as well, so take sensible precautions and enjoy

A source of inspiration for me … check out https://www.suetrowerphotography.co.uk/ … a local lass with an eye for the waves!

Nick Page's images are fantastic. Sue Trower's wave images are truly magical. Thanks to both of you for mentioning them.

Friend, this is absolutely much more than a good candidate. More appropriate would be: "A sure prize winner." Many thanks for sharing this awesome capture.

I like that a lot, there's depth and light and lots to keep my eye roaming around the frame. Fine work!
