Also, I'm impressed with the performance of you iPhone 14 Pro; I'm still using my (now aging) iPhone XS. Maybe I'll spring for a 14 - as I get older, I find myself decreasingly excited about lugging around a bunch of SLR stuff and using my phone camera more frequently.

The time I've spent taking the iPhone through its paces has made me reluctant to pick up a DSLR. If you're not an Apple person, the Google pixel 6 with the 50 MP sensor (the Apple main camera is capable of 48 MP) is rated better for scenery, the Apple is better for people photos, but you can't go wrong with either, depending on whether you prefer Apple or android. The Apple has other advantages, emergency satellite phone, waterproof and multi-satellite GPS.
If Apple can come out with a 48MP Sensor under their 77mm 3x zoom lens and maintain the ƒ1.7, (the Google goes to ƒ3.5) aperture, my only use for my DSLR will be 500mm telephoto. The Google has a 48 under their telephoto, but 3.5 is almost certain to produce diffraction.
The type of pictures take on dog walks just doesn't justify a big camera when a phone is up to the task. And I don't have a camera that will give me 14mm to 241 mm, without a lens change. This and the Google are the first phone with the technical specs to draw my interest. I expect that the next will be better if you can wait.
