Birds on Icy Branches
Lens: Sigma 170-500 DG Camera: Pentax K-5IIs Photo Location: Yard ISO: 800 Shutter Speed: 1/200s Aperture: F8

During the past several days we have been enduring an ice storm. Fortunately, we haven't had power outages in our immediate area, but many places south of us did. A selection of birds in the icy branches.

Some beautiful shots. The ice brings back some bad memories of living in Indiana and the ice storms. Stay warm and safe

Terrific series of bird images Mike! The ice definitely didn't deter these birds from coming out. Glad to hear that you didn't catch the brunt of the ice storm. I just spent a few hours cutting up the fallen cedar branches in my backyard, but not a hint of ice remains today.

Thank you, Julie. Today we have sunshine and blue skies. Most of the ice is gone. I am glad you liked the images.

Thanks much. Ice storms bring bad memories for me also. There is nothing like being the emergency contact for all the nursing homes in the state when the power goes out. We have sunshine today and the ice is virtually all gone.

Thank you so much, Todd. The birds don't mind coming out when the feeders are full. Most of our ice is also gone. We are glad to be able to get out. We haven't picked up our broken limbs yet.

Wow!
None of the little critters got frozen to their perches??!
You were quite busy finding excellent shots of these.
I really like the bluebird(?) in number 3.
Angky.

Thank you, Angky. That little blue/gray bird is a nuthatch. Full feeders are a magnet to draw birds in, especially in this type of weather.

Thanks, rhanz. I need to buy seed now. They have emptied the feeders. Fortunately, the ice has melted away and we are in for a warm up this weekend.

Thanks for viewing and commenting.
I don't know about the cold feet, but like Hubble, they don't turn down a free meal.🙂
