Very interesting...I actually looked it up, and they are mostly herbivores. Who knew?

But they get small crustaceans, worms and bugs in the salad, too. Learn something new every day!
We have many birds in Australia which are generically called "honeyeaters" because they often feed on flower nectar, but very few are purely nectar feeders because few plants flower all year round. Many feed on insects and arachnids for protein. Bell Miners "farm" insects which feed on the sap from Eucalypts and produce a sweet "lerp" which the birds feed on. Other birds opportunistically feed on lerp. Many bird and animal species have been devastated by the fact that farmers clearing land left some eucalypts but aggressively removed all wattles; the wattles flower in the colder months providing food for many birds, bats and possums.
Anyway, happy to provide a point of interest!
